Health Memo: H1N1
Hoda Soliman on 12/28/2009 at 6:04pm (UTC) | | Re: Swine Flu (H1N1)
HEALTH MEMO
Dear Parents and Students,
Due to the current situation and as a precautionary measure, parents should NOT SEND their children to school if they have any flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, bone aches, headache and fatigue. Manor House School WILL SEND HOME any student who has flu-like symptoms regardless of the cause. Students will not be allowed to ride the bus, and parents will be asked to come and pick up their children from school.
Measures to be taken by the parents:
• Close observation of the health condition of children.
• Measuring body temperature: if higher than 37.5° C school attendance is prohibited.
• By taking the body temperature in the morning, parents shall ascertain that their children do not attend school with a fever.
• Absolute commitment of parents to not send children bearing flu symptoms to school.
• Parents sending their children to school by bus shall provide masks for them. We recommend that the mask is worn during the bus ride, since the possibility of contagiousness there is higher.
• Parents must provide their children with a flexible forehead-thermometer.
• Students must have a sanitizer, box of tissues and a foldable water cup with them at all times.
Precautionary measures taken by the school:
• Informing all students through their teachers about applying personal preventive measures against the hazard of infection. (Washing hands, behavior when sneezing or coughing, flu symptoms, shaking hands, hugging, greeting by kissing, spitting, placing feet on tables)
• All students are to be instructed to wash their hands thoroughly and frequently with soap, especially before eating. In the school buses, prior to eating hands shall be disinfected with sanitizer.
• Using sanitizing detergents to clean and disinfect all solid, flat surfaces (floors, tiled walls, etc.) and sanitizing material to regularly disinfect door knobs, light switches, telephones
• Equipping the school busses with tissues and sanitizing material. Bus staff will be instructed by school physician.
• Regular disinfection of the passenger compartment in the school busses (handles, bars, windows, all washable surfaces.
• Windows of school busses shall be kept open to ensure the best ventilation.
We thank you for your cooperation and support,
Hoda Soliman

School Policy
Hoda Soliman on 12/28/2009 at 6:00pm (UTC) | | Dear Parents,
We would like to remind you of our school policies. At Manor House American School, we believe that consistently enforced rules and consequences of behavior are important to create a proper learning environment for all students. With your cooperative efforts, we can provide a learning environment that is safe, fair and orderly. Please go through these important points with your children and make sure they understand the rules and consequences of their behavior.
1. Students in grades 2 -5 with incomplete or missing homework, forgotten or unsigned planners and/or missing books will attend break detention.
2. Inappropriate behavior may receive break detention, behavior points, or loss of privileges. Consequences are assigned by your child's teachers.
3. Any change in your child's departure at the end of the day must be cleared through administration before 1:30pm. Bus matrons, captains and teachers are not responsible to inform the administration. Please call or send written information to Ms. Randa or Ms. Irene regarding any change.
4. Students who arrive late to school (after 8:15 am) will not be allowed to enter their classroom until the next period. Students should be in school at 7:45 am and go up to class in their lines.
5. Students are not allowed to re-enter the building during break. Children must make sure that they have their lunch and water before they leave class.
6. It is the student's responsibility to remember their books, copybooks and planners. Teachers will not look for or pack children's belongings.
7. Students are expected to request work that needs to be made up from their relevant teachers. They will be given one day for each day absent to complete the missed work. Arrangements to make up tests, quizzes, or other in-class work must be made by each student with their teacher.
8. Students who arrive at school without proper uniform will have to call home and have them send the proper school uniform. Students will not be allowed to enter class until proper uniform is worn.
9. Cell phones are NOT allowed in class at all. First offense: Cell phone will be taken until the end of the school day. Second Offense: Cell phone will be taken until the end of the week. Third offense: Cell phone will be taken away until the end of the quarter. Fourth offense: Cell phone will be taken away until the end of the year!
Best Regards,
Hoda Soliman
